The Club provides snooker and pool tables for all its members to use. This is on an ad hoc basis as no formal clubs exist for these now.
There are also table tennis tables for members to use.
There are a range of board games for all its members to use.
These facilities are availiable every night the club is open.
All activities are supervised by a member of staff.
The Club has a fully equipped computer room with an eight monitor access. The aim of this group is to encourage youngsters to become qualified in the areas that will help them in their school and work. We use Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Access, build and program robots. All are taught to the level of the member’s ability by a qualified instructor. The group meets on Monday between 5.30 and 6.30 p.m.
Reading Group
The aim of this group is to encourage our members to read – whether it is books, comics, football reports or newspapers. We have used them all as a means of encouraging our members to read. Antony Horowitz’s book “Stormbreaker” was a great success and other similar books are in the pipeline. The group has been running for over a year and the progress made is phenomenal. The group meets on Wednesdays between 6 and 7 p.m. and is run by members of staff.
Conversational French and Spanish
The teaching of a foreign language is part of the school curriculum but because of demands of other subjects, is often put at the bottom of the pile. The Crown and Manor hopes to redress this by providing qualified teachers for these subjects.
Our members are delighted that members of staff also attend as pupils and take great delight if the member of staff has forgotten a word or has not done his homework.
