On the 25th July the club held its Presentation Night. This was an overwhelming success with 140 parents attending, together with their youngsters. To say the hall was packed is an understatement, particularly as it was on one of the very few warm days that we had this summer. We made awards in 35 different categories with the presentations being made by members of staff. This led to a really friendly atmosphere. Special awards were made to Alf Camp and Maureen Walker for their services to the club and they were both very surprised.

Alf Camp was 80 on 12th July and many members of the Club staff attended his 80th Surprised Birthday party. It was great to see many of the members of the Old Boys Association there and a very good time was had by all. Reminiscences galore were exchanged and many old friendships were renewed.

The Club itself had prepared its own ceremony for Alf, by putting a brass plaque up on the wall with a huge birthday card and vouchers. Alf managed to walk past the plaque loads of times and also did not see the card etc with all the staff standing by watching and waiting for him to react. It caused a huge laugh and Alf was very touched at the little ceremony.

In all my years of being involved with the club, I have never seen August so busy. Maureen, myself and some of the workers have had a very busy time non stop. It has either been the maintenance of the building or activities for the members. I would like to make a very special mention and thank you to Robert Nicoll and Mark Julian who gave up most of their time in August, helping me with different activities.
