THIS NEWSLETTER CONTAINS VITAL INFORMATION CONCERNING THE CLOSURE OF THE CLUB.
PLEASE READ
FIRST – THE CLUB WILL BE CLOSED
ON WEDNESDAY 8TH DECEMBER 2010. THIS IS TO ALLOW STAFF TO BE BROUGHT UP TO DATE ABOUT OUR MOVE
SECOND, THE CLUB WILL CLOSE
ON 17TH DECEMBER 2010 FOLLOWING OUR OPEN DAY.
For the past five years, the Club has been planning to build a completely new Club on this site. We
have been delayed constantly by the Planning Department of the London Borough of Hackney who had other plans for the site, and it
was only in May 2008 that planning consent was finally won.
The Club has sold the site to developers with the condition that
a completely new club will be built on a lower ground and ground floor and there will be private residential flats above
THE NEW CLUB THAT WILL BE BUILT ON THIS SITE
The new Club is superb. It will have a lower ground sports hall which will
be four times the size of our present gymnasium and will enable us to cater for all sports. There will also be changing facilities
for both sexes and it will be completely disability friendly. There will be a “social hub” which will be the equivalent of our
Games Room and canteen. There will be no outside training area.
THE TEMPORARY ACCOMMODATION
To enable all this work
to be done, it is obvious that the Club will have to vacate the present building but the good news is that we have found alternative
accommodation in the premises of the old London City Mission at 12/14 Penn Street which is about 500 yards away
The temporary premises will give us two large halls (although not as big as our own games room and gymnasium )with a small canteen area. We will be able to provide hot showers and changing rooms.
There is no doubt that we will not be able to provide exactly the
same activities as at present but the present timetable will be kept to as much as possible. Academic classes will take place,
but football training will have to take place elsewhere: we will have more definite news about this nearer the move.
All
the football managers will be continuing with their match schedules and it is important that the managers are kept fully up to date
about the attendance of the team members. You no doubt have the mobile telephone number of your son’s football team manager,
so please keep in touch.
Unfortunately, boxing will have to be restricted to some extent, although it is planned for much of
the boxing training to continue as normal.
Table Tennis will also be able to continue much as normal.
The premises are being
refurbished at the present and it is anticipated that we will move into our new premises around the beginning of February.
FURTHER
NEWS
We will be issuing another newsletter nearer to the time of closure which we hope will give you the exact date of our opening
in Penn Street.
So, have a great holiday and we wish you all a happy new year and we will see you all again in February.
Best
wishes
Franklin and all the staff at Crown and Manor
